Tasting Notes
Agostino Pavia & Figli is now run by Agostino's sons Guiseppe and Mauro. Pino(Giuseppe) and Mauro have 10 hectares of vines on clay soils near the hilltop town of Agliano Terme, just south of Asti. The Blina comes from a single vineyard 250m above sea level and is fermented and aged for 1 year in stainless steel before bottling. This wine was the undoubted star of my recent trip to Piedmont. This was one of the first wines I tasted at around 9:30 in the morning and It was delightful. I couldn't wait to get it on the shelves! Lovely ruby red colour in the glass with an Intense, fruity bouquet of dark cherry and baking spice. The palate is fresh and well balanced with a splendid core of dark stone fruit.
