Berton Vineyards was established in 1996 by Bob and Cherie Berton. The Bonsai comes from their original planting 450 meters up in the cool High Eden Valley. The lack of irrigation early on stunted their growth so they were jokingly called the Bonsais, the name stuck but irrigation was supplied and the vines now thrive. A blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon fermented in stainless steel then undergoing its second fermentation and a further year aging in French and American oak barriques this is dark spicy and rich and very impressive and definitely not short!
