Maria-José Yravedra's small vineyards nestles 300-400 up a steep hillside above the River Sil one of the high valleys of the beautiful Ribeira Sacra region of Galicia. The Granitic soils here give an earthy mineral note to the juicy red fruited Mencia, this is really attractive and a bit of age adds further comlexity. Low alcohol, 12%, due to its altitude and proximity to the Atlantic, makes it stand out as an unusual treat amongst the usually powerful Spanish reds.
