Bourgogne Chardonnay Côtes Salines 2020 Domaine Gueguen
The Gueguen’s own this parcel of south west facing 30 year old vines in the village of Préhy, just south of the Chablis region sharing its classic Kimmeridgian clay and chalky soils
Domaine Gueguen was created in 2013 by Celine and Frederic Gueguen, she is the daughter of Jean-Marc Brocard, the renowned Chablis producer, and Frederic was the wine maker there for many years. Apart from having vines in Chablis they have this parcel of south west facing 30 year old vines in the village of Préhy, 5 miles south west of Chablis, sharing its classic Kimmeridgian clay and chalky soils, something many a more expensive Petit Chablis cannot boast. A cool fermentation in stainless steel to keep the freshness and lees ageing to give depth and yeasty, bready, notes to the floral nose and fresh red apple palate, lemony acidity and a saline, mineral finish make this an extremely attractive Chablis alternative at a tasty price too.
