Casa Carminucci Belato Offida Pecorino DOCG 2020
A delicious fresh crisp Pecorino from a small organic estate in Offida the best site fror this grape
The small medieval town of Offida is famous for its lace work but also the surrounding region was the birthplace of the Pecorino Grape and now it has its own DOCG for the grape. Sitting on a rocky outcrop inland from the coastal town of San Benedetto del Tronto in the Marche region of central western Italy. Here Piero Carminucci, only the second generation of his family to run this small organic estate founded in 1928.
His Pecorino vines are planted on clay at between 200-300m up, the grapes are hand picked and pressed then clarified at low temperature before fermentation in tank and 3 months lees aging before bottling. The nose is fresh floral and white fruited and the palate is fresh and peach noted with lemony acidity and plenty of saline mineral notes. Impressive.
