The Purple Malbec is a juicy unoaked Malbec from the famous 500 year old estate Chateau Lagrezette in Cahors, south east of Bordeaux, the French home of the Malbec Grape. This comes from their younger vines averaging 15 years old. The famous French Consultant Michel Rolland has started to have a real influence here, implementing a 5 day cold maceration before fermentation to accentuate colour and fruit but not tannin and this juicy unoaked example is one of the new products of this regime. With a vibrant colour in the glass and soft tannins and bright juicy black fruits with a hint of white pepper, very attractive and will keep a bit too.
The influential America magazine Food and Wine chose this in their article '12 best wines to go with Burgers', they should know!
