Chateau Oumiyat’s Assyrtiko is the first to be produced in the Lebanon, a homage to the wines of Santorini, the home of Assyrtiko
Winemaker Joseph Bou Sleiman established Chateau Oumiyat in the village of Mtein 1,000m above sea level in the Beqaa Valley close to Mt Lebanon. Joseph’s Assyrtiko, the first to be produced in Lebanon, is a homage to the wines of Santorini, the home of Assyrtiko and is labelled Cuvée Membliarus after a 6th century Phoenician (Lebanese) governor of the island. A few splashes (9%) of Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc are added to the citrusy mineral Assyrtico and fermented and aged in stainless steel. Fresh and crisp with notes of lemon peel to the melon and peach fruit and a long dry finish.
