Dartigalongue VSOP Bas Armagnac
Dartigalongue estate was established in 1838 in the village of Nogaro, in the Bas Armagnac region and is now run by the 5th Generation of the family. This impressive VSOP spends 5-6 years in old oak casks making it nicely mellow, with a lingering warmth and woodiness.
Dartigalongue was established in 1838 in the village of Nogaro, in the Bas Armagnac region and is now run by the 5th Generation of the family. They grow three varieties, Ugni Blanc (for the fruit) Baco, (specific to AOC Armagnac – for the structure) and Folle Blanche (for the finesse) grown on sandy silt. After distillation and aging in Gascon oak the blends are carefully assembled by Ghislain Laffargue, cellar master since 1990 and Benoit Hillion, Director and nephew by marriage of Françoise Dartigalongue. This excellent VSOP is aged between 4-6 years casks, preserving its delicate aromas of fruits (cooked apples, citrus), white blossom, vanilla and light wood notes, nicely mellow, with a lingering warmth and woodiness.
