Domaine Charles Hours Jurançon Uroulat 2020
This lovely fresh dessert wine made from Petit Manseng picked late, because of the dry windy conditions here there is no Botrytis so the wines are very fresh with honeyed fruit, hints of flowers and orange and a good balance of acidity keeps the whole fresh and very attractive.
Rugby player and scientist Charles Hours bought the small Clos Uroulat vineyard in the foot hills of the Pyrenees back in 1983 and became a vigneron like his father and grandfather before him. The vineyard holding has grown somewhat to 17 hectares and he has been joined by his daughter Marie. Their lovely fresh dessert wine is made from 100% Petit Manseng picked late in November, because of the dry windy conditions here there is no Botrytis (Noble Rot) so the wines are very fresh, 10 months aging in oak gives texture and warmth to the fresh honeyed fruit with hints of flowers and orange; a good balance of acidity keeps the whole fresh and very attractive.
