Johann Donabaum Spitzer Riesling Federspiel 2019
Johann Donabaum’s Spizer Riesling comes from vines on the steep hills above the town of Spitz offering attractive red apple fruit and mineral freshness
Johann Donabaum is the fifth generation winemaker to run his family winery situated just outside the village of Spitz in Austria’s Wachau region. The proximity to the River Danube and the steep vineyards with quartz and shist based soils give plenty of depth and minerality to his wines.
Johann’s Spizer Riesling comes from vines on the steep hills above the town, the grapes are hand harvested and undergo fermentation in tank and a further 4 months on their yeast lees before bottling. Offering an attractive nose of mineral wrapped red apples and hints of peach and an elegant palate with real length and a dry mineral finish.
