Lieutenant De Sigalas 2018 Sauternes.
The Lieutenant de Sigalas is the second wine of Ch. Sigalas Rabaud, made from their young vines, still with plenty of Noble Rot, a good bit of age means this is drinking really well.
The 17th century Sauternes estate of Ch. Sigalas Rabaud, a near neigbour to Ch. D'Yquem, has been in the Sigalas family since 1833, Laure de Lambert Compeyrot, mother of three and 6th generation owner, took over the running of the estate in 2006.
The Lieutenant de Sigalas is her second wine, made from the younger vines of the property, picked late with plenty of ‘Noble Rot’ but still maintaining the classic freshness of a great Sauternes, made from 82% Semillon and 18% Sauvignon and aged for a year in French oak. A good bit of age means this is drinking really well.
