Meerlust Estate Red 2019
The 2019 vintage is made from the fruit from their top wine Rubicon which was declassified due to late rainfall, the whole production went into this blend.
This, the baby of the Meerlust range always provides great value drinking. but even more so in 2019.
Due to poor weather compounded by late rainfall of the 2019 vintage, Hannes Myburgh, Meerlust’s owner and Cellar Manager Wim Truter took the decision to declassify the whole of their iconic flagship wine Rubicon in to this their Meerlust Red. This last happened in 2011 and many of our customers will recall what a steal it was. Now with prices rising all around us it is a pleasure to offer a real bargain and hats off to the Meerlust team for putting quality before profit.
With clear footprints of the Rubicon’s classic Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc backbone here, with little new oak being used this is immediately attractive and rewarding and should give pleasure for a while. Fill your boots!
