Types of data we collect

Website Cookies

A cookie is a small text file containing information that a web site transfers to your computer's hard disk, and in the case of the Wine Library website this allows our website to keep track of whether you’re logged in, and what’s in your shopping basket. A cookie cannot give us access to your computer or to information beyond what you provide us. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies; consult your browser's manual or online help if you want information on restricting or disabling the browser's handling of cookies. If you disable cookies, you can still view the publicly available information on our web site. If you are using a shared computer and you have cookies turned on, be sure to log off when you finish.

The Wine Library website uses a very limited number of cookies to help manage the ordering process. The only other ones you may encounter browsing our site are placed there by Google Analytics and Mailchimp, as detailed below.

Google Analytics

When someone visits www.winelibrary.co.uk we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

Wifi

The Wi-Fi at our Trinity Square premises is free to use and does not ask you to log in with any of your details. We do not monitor any usage or track what websites or applications you are accessing.

Mailing Lists

We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing us at info@winelibrary.co.uk. To comply with GDPR regulations, our nominated data protection officer is Peter Prescott.

Third Parties

If you buy something from us, some of your information will be passed securely from the Wine Library website to our payment processing gateway, Cardsave by Worldpay, for the sole purpose of processing your payment. We will also share the necessary details (your name and address) with our shipping partner so that we can send your order to you.

Other than for the purposes outlined above, your details will NEVER be shared with any other organisation. Under no circumstances will we ever sell, rent or otherwise pass on your details to anybody else.

Data Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Our website is hosted on a managed, dedicated server at one of the UK’s leading datacentres, which is protected by a Cisco firewall and kept up-to-date with the latest security patches.
