Wine Tastings at The Wine Library
Over the years our wine tastings have proved to be an excellent way of entertaining clients or friends in an enjoyable and informative manner.
Our tastings take two main formats; blind tasting competitions and tutored tastings. We can comfortably accommodate up to 35 people at our premises or tastings can be conducted at your own venue.
The Blind Tastings
Designed to be informal and fun. Wines are chosen to fit your budget, (with or without your knowledge should you wish to take part!) - Normally four white wines and four red wines. We would then produce a questionnaire sheet of a multiple-choice format for guests to select grape varieties, country and vintage for each wine. A brief talk prior to the tasting will be given on wine tasting techniques and to advise guests what they should look out for.
The whole evening should take no more than 2½ hours including a selection of tasty pates and farmhouse cheeses, with fresh bread and biscuits.
For clients or friends with a genuine interest in wine, these evenings prove to be the most enjoyable and memorable. Based around a selection of six wines from our list, tailored to fit your budget, any theme from our range of wines can be shown, which could be grape varieties, individual regions, countries or comparison between countries or regions, if we stock it we will present and talk about it.
The talks are designed to be interesting and informative with an element of fun, and may be pitched at any level, depending on the wine knowledge of your guests.
Once again, a selection of pates and cheeses can be served during the evening, which should take no more than 2½ hours.
If required wine or champagne can be served on arrival, whilst your party gathers.
A room hire charge of £200.00 will be levied for each evening, payable in advance as a deposit. The deposit will be forfeited for cancellations less than three working days prior to the booking date.
As a rough guide a tasting for 30 people including House Champagne on arrival, wines for tasting, food and room hire charge would be from £55 per head. For 20-25 people from £65 per head, for 10-15 people from £70 per head. This price would not include any competition prizes.
