Description
Pablo Fallibrino’s winery is based in the Atlantida sub-region of the Canalones region of Uruguay. Situated close to the Atlantic to the east of Montevideo with plenty of wind from the coast making it one of the cooler sites in Uruguay.
Pablo is of Italian heritage his grandfather Angelo emigrated from Piedmont in the 1920’s so he has a definite tilt toward Italian grapes and styles.
None more so than this Ripasso de Tannat, made in the style of an Amarone using Tannat, Uruguay’s most famous grape. 50% of the grapes are dried on the vine as their canes are cut to stop moisture getting to the bunches the remainder are picked normally. The grapes are macerated, pressed and fermented in tank then aged for 18 months in French oak and bottled unfiltered. Named Angel’s Cuvée after his Grandfather Angelo.
With the classic deep colour of the Tannat and dark mineral sweet/sour berry and mulberry fruit with notes of chocolate, herbs and spices. Powerful, very long and impressive.
