Description
Marc Ripoll Sans took on his old run down family winery and vineyards in 2000. The vineyards, planted by his grandfather are spread over several plots planted on the classic Llicorella Slate soils around the famous Priorat town of Gratallops. His D’Iatra comes from ‘younger’ vines up to 50 years of age and is a classic blend of 59% Carinyena (Carignan), 24% Garnatxa (Grenache) with 17% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has a long 30 day maceration and fermentation in tank then aged in fine grain French oak barrels.
The result is a powerful and mineral wrapped with a core of ripe spicy dark fruit, a couple of hours breathing sees it at its best.
