Description
This is the debut vintage of Val Joanis’ delicious unoaked Viogner. The Roozen’s have planted more Viogner vines with this wine in mind, highlighting how they want to take this old estate forward. Classic honeysuckle nose and fresh palate of peaches, apricots and nice fresh acidity and mineral notes, classy and very attractive
Château Val Joanis is situated in the south of the Luberon AOC on the north bank of the river Durance that divides Provence from the Luberon, 20k due north of Aix-en-Provence. The vines surround a pretty 17th century bastide built on the site of a Roman villa. The estate was bought in 1977 by Jean-Louis Chancel, who replanted the vines and established the estate we see today. His wife created the famous garden that still draws crowds of plant lovers today. Fittingly, the estate which now extends to 180 hectares is now owned by Dutch flower magnate Leonard Roozen.
