Description
Domaine Pichat only started Domaine bottling in 2000 having sold fruit for generations, they are based in the village of Veraney in the north of the appellation. The famous lieu-dit of Les Grandes Places overlooks Veraney and the Rhône flowing below. Stephane Pichat vines here are 100% Syrah, averaging 60 years of age.
The grapes are destemmed and fermented with their natural yeasts, aging takes place in new 400l French oak barrels for 30-36 months.
Dark fruit on the nose with hints of spice and smoke. The palate is rich and powerful red and black berries and cherries with a nice balanced tannins leading to a long finish. Drinking now but will keep very well.
