Description
La Coste des Andes was set up by Irish property magnate Paddy McKillen with help from Michel Rolland and winemaker Lucas Gimenez Bachiocchi. Situated in the high Valle de Uco region of Mendoza, they have two sites, in Los Chacyes and Gualtallary farmed organically since 2014.
The Andillian Malbec comes from their two vineyards in Los Chacayes, situated between 1250-1450 metres up, offering vibrant red and black fruits with restrained tannins making this very attractive from the get go.
Following a handpicked selection of grapes from across the estate, there is a pre-ferment carbonic maceration for 5 days. Fermentation then takes place in 50% in stainless steel vats and 50% in oval concrete vats followed by a period of skin contact post-fermentation. The wine is aged for a further 6 months in French oak barrels.
