Description
Founded by Albert and Heidi Ahrens in 2008. Their winery is based in Paarl but they have vineyards in various regions, Swartland, Voor-Paardeberg, Wellington, Paarl and Stellenbosch. This old vine Chenin Blanc comes from bush trained vines, in Swartland, planted in 1984. The sandy soils over Ferricrete rock, known locally as KoffieKlip, is high in iron giving plenty of power and flavour to the wines. Only 1234 bottles produced.
The wines is pressed in an old basket press then run ino oak barrels of varying sizes where it undergoes fermentation with the wild yeasts.With further ageing, without battonage, in the same casks for 10 months. This impressive Chenin is both fresh and mineral butalso very complex and long and will age very well..
