Description
The Hilt was founded in 2008 in the Santa Rita Hills in Santa Barbara, the coolest wine growing area in the state of California, considered one of the most exciting areas for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir growing. Now owned by Stan Kroenke who’s stable includes Screaming Eagle, Domaine Bonneau de Martray in Burgundy and Arsenal Football club.
The wines are made by Matt Dees who draws on a wide range of vineyard plots mostly north facing and no more than 13 miles from the sea, so continuous sea breezes keep the vineyards cool and high altitude gives further balance and acidity.
The impressive Estate Chardonnay is aged in 34% New French oak,56% neutral French oak, 10% stainless steel for 11 months. This is beautifully balance but with real depth and length
