Warre's Bottle Matured Late Bottled Vintage Port 2008
Warre's LBV is one of the best on the market, with plenty of fruit and structure witness the 6 years extra aging before release, worth a try.
Warre’s, founded in 1670, was the first British Port company established in Portugal. Their grapes are sourced from Quinta da Cavadinha, Quinta do Retiro and Quinta da Telhada, three of the finest estates of the Douro Valley. This Late Bottled Port is made from Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca grapes which are trodden by foot and machine in open granite Lagars before fermenting and fortifying. The wine then spends 4 years in large oak vats before being bottled unfiltered and left to age in their cellars for a further 6 years before release. Unlike most LBV which are filtered before bottling this will require decanting to remove the natural sediment which imbues this wine with its extra power and depth. One of the best LBV’s on the market, pop this in a decanter and no one would know it’s not a Vintage Port at twice the price.
