Weingut Waldschütz Kamptal Riesling 2020 Kamptal
This refreshingly crisp dry Riesling is elegant and dry with red apple and a delicate peachy note to the mineral palate.
The Waldschütz winery dates to 1784 and is situated in Elsarn, in the north of the Kamptal region with vineyards in both Kamptal and nearby Wagram. Owned and run by Reinhard Waldschütz since 1994, recently his son Markus has started to take over the wine making.
Reinhards Kamptal Riesling is grown on blue slate over granite which forces the Riesling vines to put down deep 10m roots plus to access water and nutrients giving low yields and plenty of saline minerality. Picked as late as possible, without botrytis, and macerated for 12 hours before gentle pressing, a long cool fermentation and long lees aging. This refreshingly crisp Riesling is elegant and dry with red apple and a delicate peachy note to the mineral palate.
