Tasting Notes
Roberta Roncolato's impressive Amarone is a blend of 50% Corvina, 30% Corvinone 15% Rondinella and 5% of the rare, tiny berried Oseleta grape, picked in late September and air dried for between 4-5 months the resulting nearly raisin-ed grapes are pressed and fermented to full dryness here achieving 15% alcohol. Aged for 15 months in French oak and a further two years in bottle to acquire the classic sweet and bitter combination of classic Amarone, Written up in decanter Magazine back in late 2017 and awarded Gold and 95/100 this is now even better with some age under its belt. Decanter Magazine 2017. Gold medal (95 points) for Villa Mattielli with the new vintage 2013 of Amarone della Valpolicella: Superlative chocolate and black cherry nose with kirsch, cocoa powder and a touch of liquorice joining the palate. Great complexity and uniqueness of fruit with a long expressive finish.
