Tasting Notes
This is the 'second' wine of this very good estate, the cellar is now state of the art after a cash injection from a Hong Kong investor and a further three hectares of vines have been added. Production at Haut-Brisson is traditional and all but organic, the harvest is carried out by hand, making several passes across the vineyards which is planted with 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. The grapes are carefully sorted and then vinified in small lots to maintain fruit. The wine is aged in French oak barriques for 16 to 19 months before it is finally blended. Delivering an impressive plummy, coffee-bean and sandalwood-scented nose and gives lots of good plum and fig fruit balanced tannins on the palate, now showing really well.
