Tasting Notes
Good un-oaked Chardonnay from the 'New World' can be hard to find but this is right out of the top draw and would rival many a Premier Cru Chablis and at a fraction of the price. This comes from an elevated position on deep clay soils with the highest quantity of limestone and highest pH of any site on the estate so the resulting fruit works perfectly without oak. Lees'ey, bready, red apple fruit with citrus and chalky notes to the nose and a super long white fruited palate with hints of honey shot through with minerals and racy lemony acidity. Not suprisingly it cleared up most of the awards in its class in South Africa.
