Tasting Notes
This old domaine situated near Limoux in the Languedoc was taken in hand by Bertrand Gourdon-Guilhem after his family threatened to sell it. He had fallen for the Sauvignon Blanc grape as made in Bordeaux where he had worked at Ch. Carbonnieux in the Graves. So back in 2003 he planted a similar clone of Sauvignon as used in the Graves on the higher lying slopes of his domaine to this he has added Chardonnay, more traditional to the region. The whole are put into 500ltr oak casks where they receive plenty of lees stirring, Battonage, over 20 days then further aging in oak, the result is a superb, unique wine. With a nose very reminicsent of a white grave with Waxy lemons and hints of honeyed oak and a long palate of peach, pear and hints of apricots. Well worth a try.
