Tasting Notes
The beautiful Quinta Dos Malvedos overlooking a bend in the River Douro is always at the heart of the blend that makes up all the great Graham Vintage Ports. Full blown Vintage Ports are only released on average three times a decade, so in between in good vintages Graham's release this Single Quinta Vintage Port. The wine has a very similar treatment, foot treading and similar barrel aging but with a little more upfront fruit and riper tannins making it more approachable when young. Don't make the mistake of assuming these wines do not age, I have tasted examples from the 1950's which are still vibrant. Writing in Robert Parkers Wine Advocate Mark Squires wrote of it , " The 2004 Quinta dos Malvedos comes in at 107 grams per litre of residual sugar. It is a big mouthful, gorgeous from the get-go, young, exuberant and rather delicious, it should keep well as it does have nice support underneath the fruit. " Scoring it 93/100
