Tasting Notes
Australian Cabernet at it's very best, attractive dark cassis fruit, herbs, dark chocolate notes and sweet oak on the nose are repeated on the on the powerful yet balanced palate, only 13.5% despite the warmth of the 2013 vintage. After 30 vintages in the Coonawarra winemaker Wayne Stehbens has got it cracked! This important estate dates back to 1896 when Coonawarra pioneering winemaker John Riddoch made his second vintage in the Katnook Woolshed, it still stands today. The modern day estate dates from 1971, the Yunghanns family purchased Katnook and the first vines were planted. Now owned by the Freixenet Group, the Spanish wine giant but luckily they have maintained winemaker Wayne Stehbens hand on the tiller and quality is as good as ever.
