Tasting Notes
Paringa Estate was founded in 1984 by Mornington Peninsula pioneer Lindsay McCall, he felt is cool maritime climate was perfect for Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Working round his day job as a Geography teacher at a local private girl’s school, it wasn’t until 1996 he was able to be a full time winemaker, winning many awards along the way culminating in being awarded Best Wine Estate in Australia in 2007 by James Halliday. Lindsay has now been joined by his winemaker son Jamie. The Peninsular Chardonnay is sourced from five leased vineyards and is run into oak casks for fermentation, some with wild yeast then 11 months aging withholding the malolactic fermentation for freshness and zip. This very elegant chardonnay has attractive creamy brioche fruit and balancing oak and lemony acidity. Drinking well and will keep a few years too.
