Tasting Notes
Top French winemaker Jean-Claude Berrouet, ex of Ch. Petrus no less ,spent the whole of the 2013 vintage here so this wine was made by him from start to finish, he remains as a consultant going forward. Made from 69% Cabernet Sauvignon,18% Marselan and 13% Merlot it offers ripe warm black berries and current fruitwith hints of tobacco and spice on the nose and attractive dark berries, chocolate and again tobacco with soft tannins and good length. drinking very well. Rongzi Winery was set up by mining and power supplying squillioniare, Zang Wenquan spending over 1 Billion Yuan on a 400 hectare vineyard and 30 hectare park and a massive Pagoda Chateau. With advice from China's top Viticulturist he chose vineyards in Xiangning in north easterly Shanxi Province, The winery is named after Rongzi the first Chinese lady winemaker 2700 years ago. The unusually deep Loess soils and big diurnal change of temperature, hot days cold nights make it ideal for viticulture.
