Tasting Notes
Rongzi Winery was set up by mining and power supplying Sqillioniare, Zang Wenquan spending over 1 Billion Yuan on a 400 hectare vineyard and 30 hectare park and a massive Pagoda Chateau. With advice from China's top Viticulturist he chose vineyards in Xiangning in north easterly Shanxi Province, Named after Rongzi the first Chinese lady winemaker 2700 years ago. The unusually deep Loess soils and big dinural change of temperature, hot days cold nights make it ideal for viticulture. Top French winemaker Jean-Claude Berrouet, ex of Ch. Petrus no less, was brought in to oversee the project. The Red Label is a blend of 55% Marselan, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Cabernet Franc and offers a complex nose of dark berries, chocolate, cocoa and herbs and a full elegant, long palate of earthy dark berries and cherries with soft tannins and bright attractive acidity. Impressive.
