Description

Chritian Roche is the 5th generation grower /winemaker at this old priory a few miles south of Bergerac in the tiny Monbazillac AC. He also has vines in Bergerac but it is the organically farmed Semillon and Muscadelle vines on the slopes below the house which interests us. Picked late with the grapes shrivelled by Noble Rot and then given a cool temperature 20 day long fermentation in stainless streel with plenty of lees stirring to add complexity and creaminess. This baby of his range is a delight floral and honeyed on the nose and long and sweet in the mouth but balanced by lovely freshness and acidity; perfect as a summers aperitif, foie gras or a light dessert.
