Description

Anthonij Ruper Wjnes is owned by Johann Rupert, South Africa’s richest man, run as a homage to his winemaker brother Rupert killed in a car crash in 2001. The wines are made in a stunning rotating gravity fed wine cellar on his L’Ormarins estate.

The Optima is a blend of 29% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec sourced from one of their four estates, this in the cool coastal region of Darling. Fermentation took place in a combination of French oak and stainless-steel tanks followed by malolactic fermentation in barrel. Each component was matured separately in 225L French oak barrels for 20 months, with 30% of the barrels being new oak
