Description
The excellent Domaine de la Charbonnière is made up of 12 hectares of vines spread over 4 differing parcels of vines; run by sisters Veronique and Caroline Maret. Their straight Châteauneuf comes from a mix of all four parcels and is made from 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 15% Mouvèdre, fermentation is in tank and aging in a mix of barriques and larger oak foudres. This has the classic gamey, spicy dark cherry and berry fruit with a nice balance of acidity and rounded tannins, drinking now but will definitely keep a few years more.
