Description
Guerrieri-Rizzardi is a 200 year old family estate with vineyards in Bardolino, Soave and Valpolicella. The family owns 25 hectare of vines in Negrar, the heart of the Valpolicella Classico region. The vineyards are split into 25 plots, between 170 and 230 meters above sea level and the soil is mainly clay based with a significant presence of limestone.
Their stunning Calcarole comes from a single, steep, rocky terraced vineyard on a hillside
with south/south-west exposure. A blend of Corvina 80%, Barbera 10%, Rondinella 5%, Sangiovese 5%. The grapes are handpicked and air dried in small crates in the estate’s centuries old drying rooms for three months. The shriveled bunches are de stemmed and fermented in stainless steel for about a month before passing to oak for the malolactic fermentation and further aging, for 12 months in 225l French barriques and a further 24 months in large 2500l oak barrels.
