Description

In 2012 Dirk Niepoort superstar winemaker from the Douro cast his eye over to the mountainous Dao region, to the south of the Douro, buying plots of old vines.

Dirk’s Conciso comes from an old east facing vineyard 600m up in the Serreda Estrella. The vines, mostly Baga and Jaen are old 80-100 plus years, planted on the classic granitic soils of the region. The grapes some whole bunches are macerated and fermented in stone lagares before aging 20months in barriques and one large 2500l wooden vat in his estate, Quinta da Lomba.

The result is medium garnet in colour with an expressive dark cherry and spice warmth to the nose and a long, elegant mineral wrapped red and dark fruited palate only 13% alcohol.
