Description
The 2021 vintage sees a new name and label for Domaine Pierre Usseglios lovely white Chateauneuf. Called Première Pierre after the original vines bought by brothers Jean-Pierre and Thierry Usseglio’s grandfather back in 1948. The textured label also highlights the four main soil types of their vineyards, sand, clay, limestone and rolled stones.
The 2021 is the best I have tried with attractive floral notes and white fruits to the fore From a blend of 70% Clairette, 25% Grenache blanc and 5% Bourboulenc, aged in 50% stainless steel, some amphoras, and a mix of new to 1 year old oak cuves, the malolactic is supressed to keep freshness. The result is superb.
