Description
Sesta di Sopra was founded in 1980 with the purchase of 40 hectares of land in the warmer south east of the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, near the town of Castelnuovo dell’ Abate. The vineyards which make up only 4 hectare are surrounded by forest and olive plantations and sit at about 400m up.
Their stunning spicy dark fruited Magistra comes from a single plot at the highest point of the estate, the warm southerly site with 30 year old Sangiovese Grosso vines give power and structure balanced by the high altitude. The wine are aged for three years in 10 hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels and a further year in bottle.
