Telmo Rodriguez, famous for masterminding the rebirth of the famous old Rioja estate of Remelluri, joined forces with fellow winemaker Pablo Eguzkiza in 1990.

Their vision was to showcase Spain’s indigenous varietals, working with old vines from small plots from diverse regions. So far taking on board 355 small plots across 80 hectares working with 43 differing native varietals.

The Gaba do Xil is made from 100% Godello in the high lying single vineyard in Valdeorras in Galicia. Fermented in Stainless steel to preserve the freshness and aromatics.

Godello is indigenous to Gallicia probably dating back to Roman times but was pushed to near extinction until being ‘re-discovered’ in the late 20th century.

Flowers and bay leaf notes on the nose and stonefruit minerals and again bay on the palate, good length too.
