£21.49

A great example of Zweigelt Austria’s widest planted red varietal

Description

The Waldschütz winery dates to 1784 and is situated in Elsarn, in the north of the Kamptal region with vineyards in both Kamptal and nearby Wagram. Owned and run by Reinhard Waldschütz since 1994, recently his son Markus has started to take over the wine making.

Zweigelt or Blauer Zweigelt is Austria’s widest planted red grape. It was created by crossing St. Laurent and Blaufränkisch varietals by by Friedrich Zweigelt  in 1922.
