Description
Akrathos was founded by winemaker Babis Bekris and lawyer Nassos Felonis in 2007. After a long search they settled on the Halkidiki (Chalkidiki) Peninsular in Northern Greece, and the first 5 hectares of vines were planted in 2009 and a winery built in 2014. Their Xinomavro is fermented in stainless steel and aged for 12 months in old oak barrels. With plenty of colour, classic of the dark skinned varietal and a nose of black jelly babies and spice and pepper. The palate is long with dark cherries and plums with ripe tannins and balanced acidity. Drinking well now but will keep too.
