Description
The town of Gavi is situated in the east of the Piedmonte region due north of Genoa. The wines of Gavi di Gavi must come from the commune of Gavi and have been designated DOCG since 1998.
Roberto Sarotto joined his family firm in 1980 changing to estate bottling in 1981. His chalky soiled Bric Sassi Vineyard 270m up in the heart of the Gavi di Gavi Commune, faces mostly due south so offering the 40 year old Cortese vines perfect exposure. A long cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed by 2 month aging in tank and two in bottle before release. This is very attractive with floral fruit on the nose and a complex dry mineral palate.
