Corteforte Terre di San Zeno Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2016

£47.99

A stunning example of an Amarone from a small organic estate.

Description

Corteforte was founded by Carlo Maria Cerutti in 1989, with cellars in a 15th century fort in the town of Fumane just to the north of Verona.  His organic vineyards spread over the hill above the property.

His “Terre di San Zeno” sits between 150 and 300m up the slope with a southwest exposure. The grapes are carefully selected at full ripeness and air dried in open sided barns until being pressed in the following spring. Fermentation and a year’s aging takes place in stainless steel it is then run off into French oak cuves for another 12 months and resting a further year in bottle before release.

Ethereal aromas of black cherry liqueur and a complex palate of sweet cherries, berries, liquorice, anise and spices, which blend with great elegance and a long and intense aftertaste. Drinking beautifully now but will age very well.
