Description

Silver Heights was founded in 2007 by Lin Gao and his Bordeaux trained winemaker daughter Emma Gao in the Helan Mountains region of Ningxia. Situated between the Helan Mountains and the Yellow River at around 1200 meters up, this is one of China’s most exciting wine regions. The altitude gives cooling influences during the summer months but the extreme winter cold means that they must bury the vines to survive the freeze, very labour intensive and expensive. The vineyards are farmed organically and in conversion to biodynamic farming.

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 18 months in 50% New oak and the remainder in older neutral oak barrels. This is extracted and powerful with lots of length and depth.
