Description
The Tikveš Winery has been narrating the Republic of North Macedonia’s story as a winemaking country since 1885. Located in the Tikveš region, the Tikveš estate sustainably cultivates indigenous varieties such as Smederevka, Vranec and Kratoshija. The grapes are vinified in the state-of-the-art cellar equipped with the latest technology, resulting in a series of authentic and characterful wines.
The 12-hectare Babuna vineyard, situated in Bela Voda within the Tikveš region, is planted with 35-year-old vines at a density of 2,700 vines/ha. Clay soils and 450-500 l/m² rainfall contributeto the wine’s character. The area enjoys 190 sunny days, and harvest takes place between late September and early October. The Grapes are cold macerated for 2 days at 6-7 °C. Fermentation and skin contact continue for 21 days in concrete vats of 80 hl at 23-25 °C. The wine then ages for 12 months, adding complexity and structure.
A bold and full-bodied wine with aromas of blackberry, cherry, and baked plum giving way to violet. Dry, with refreshing acidity and fine-grained tannins. Flavours of pomegranate, sour cherry, and raspberry linger on the succulent finish.
