Carpineto was founded in 1967 by Antonio Zaccheo and Giovanni Sacchet originally to make modern style Chianti. Their vision has expanded somewhat, now with five wineries, two in Chianti one in Montepulciano one in Brunello and one in Maremma.

Carpineto Vino Nobile is rich and savoury with dark cherries hints of bay, rounded tannins and lots of length it comes from their 200 acre estate in Montepulciano is planted with 70% Sangiovese, most of the remainder is Canaiolo, an old Tuscan Grape which used to be the main grape in Chianti up until the late 19th century. A little Cabernet and Merlot is also grown here. The wine is aged two years in large oval 5,500L oval shaped Slavonian oak barrels, with a small part in French oak barrels, the wine is further aged in tank after being assembled and at least another year in bottle before release.
