Cave de la Côte Pinot Noir 2020 Vin de Pays Suisse
This juicy, strawberry imbued Pinot comes from the best Co-Operative in the Switzerlands Vaud region
Created in 1929 the Cave de la Côte is the most important co-operative in the La Côte Appellation the biggest wine-growing region in the canton of Vaud lying between the mountains and northern edge of Lake Geneva. Drawing from 1,800 plots of various sizes and 300 growers extending over 450 hectares. The winemaking is overseen by Chilean Oenologist Rodrigo Banto who has totally revitalized the production since he arrived in 2003.
This attractive delicate Pinot has vibrant strawberry fruit on the nose and palate and is as good or better as any Pinot in this price range.
Interestingly Pinot Noir is the widest planted grape variety in Switzerland and references appear to cultivation there under various names in the 15th century. You may also see it here labelled as Blauburgunder or Klävner.
