Jean-Marc pillot produces some of the very finest Chassagne-Montrachets
Jean-Marc Pillot produces some of the finest Chassagne-Montrachet’s from his 11 hectare estate, he is also one of the few who specializes in the red wines of Chassagne.
His important estate boasts vines in seven Premier Cru vineyards, all his vines are well established and quite densely planted to restrict yield, ploughed rather than using herbicides and green pruned to reduce excessive bunches, so the results are impressive.
His Les Champ-Gain, from a vineyard situated just south of the village is always forward and attractive, some of his ‘youngest’ vines here planted in 1977 now well over 40 years of age so plenty of freshness and depth with no more than 30% new oak used giving great balance.
