Chateau Haut Rian Bordeaux Blanc 2022
This lovely fresh, mineral Bordeaux Blanc is made from Semillon (60%) and Sauvignon (40%) vines with an average age of 35 years planted on clay and limestone soils
Chateau Haut-Rian is an 85 hectare sustainably farmed and bee friendly estate in the Entre Deux Mer region of Bordeaux; the wedge of land between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers.Bought by Michel Dietrich in 1978 and now run by his daughter Pauline. This lovely fresh, mineral Bordeaux Blanc is made from Semillon (60%) and Sauvignon (40%) vines with an average age of 35 years planted on clay and limestone soils. Fermented in stainless steel vats then aged on its yeast lees for a further four months before bottling. I first bought this wine twenty years ago and it only took one taste to realize what I had been missing: an enticing nose of crushed nettles, lemons and limes with hints of seashells and a long fresh palate, drinking beautifully.
